New toys from Korg
« on: June 13, 2008, 07:13:15 PM »

Nanokontrol: £59 for "nine faders, nine knobs, 18 switches plus transport controls".
Nanopad: £59 for "12 responsive trigger pads plus an x-y pad with roll and flam functions".
Nanokey: £49 for "a flexible midi keyboard controller that is smaller than a laptop keyboard".

Expected October 2008 (UK).

That Nanopad would be so much better (for me) with 16 pads. Or even just 8 in a single row...

More details at Music Radar and DV247.

Id like to get one of those Nano Kontrols and rip it to shread, replacing every knob/fader/button on there with quality components - this would make for a very cheap base to work from if your into making your own midi controllers.

Very very cool.

Can't wait to get my hands on these, will help out with a number of hardware projects my band and I are planning. The Pad will be the most useful, however I most certainly want a Kontrol and Key for making music on the move.

Oh money money....

Gotta love how Korg's designers have hacking/modding in mind...

You will be better off with either a CME Bitstream or , if you are musically inclined, a Novation X Station 25.
You will always require an X-Y controller for Ableton.

OOps! I didn't notice the pad on the pad unit - The large pad is the X-Y surface I'll bet. That is an alternative X-Y controller as opposed to the usual joystick. These are pretty cool then. There appears to be not a lot of elbow room with those faders, but still - For the price, I say these are functional enough for basic Ableton external operation.
