Smart Mixer mapping
« on: July 09, 2009, 01:34:29 AM »
I'm using ableton live 7 and a demo of reaktor 5 to test this out. is there a way to map a midi knob or button to control the "Selector" slider on the far left of the Smart Mixer - Bass Managemet window? I want to be able to swap bass priority with a midi controller basically. any suggestions.?

Right click on the slider and select MIDI Learn. Bam.

hmmm. i tried that but it doesn't seem to work. In fact i've never been able to use the midi learn feature on a vst in live. What am i missing?

I should clarify... I can usually map any function of a vst by accessing it's corresponding slider in live and mapping THAT to my midi controller. This Selector slider, however, does not have a corresponding slider in live.

So if I can map it by right-click/midi-learn in reactor, that would be ideal... but it's not working. Is there a place in reactor where i can designate which midi controller to listen to and which midi cc messages to respond to?

Sorry if this question is uber-noob... i'm very new to reaktor

Ok, so there's two ways to do this with Reaktor in Live 7. The simplest way is to right click on the actual slider in Reaktor itself and it should bring up a menu from which you can select MIDI Learn. This is separate from Live's MIDI Learn.

The other way is to open the Properties for the slider and change the Controller ID to a number less than 128, as Live 7 will only show this many sliders. Then find the corresponding slider in live and MIDI Learn it. There was a video on this somewhere but I'm damned if I can find it.

Ah! That did it! I changed the parameter to 127 and it worked instantly. Thanks for the help!
